Family Friendly Events

Visiting as a family? Check out our year-round family friendly events... Use the table below to see what's on at each of our museums and collections. From planting to painting; the deep blue sea to the sky above us; storybook characters, historical figures, and myths and monsters – there's something for everyone!

Please note, whilst family activities are free, there is an entry charge for adults at the Botanic Garden and Arboretum.

If you are planning a visit with children on the autistic spectrum or with support needs, have a look at the Museum of Natural History's 'About the Museum' and 'Planning Your Visit' resources here (link opens in new tab).

  • Borrow a backpack full of activities and become a family of museum explorers at the Pitt Rivers Museum every Saturday 10-4pm.
  • Why not pick up a Botanic Backpack to take with you to explore the Botanic Gardens?  Chose either Measuring or Looking.
  • Begin your Ashmolean Museum adventure at the Welcome Desk where you can collect family trails and sketching materials every day. On weekends you'll find activity kits, fun make and takes, magnifiers and torches too 2pm-4pm.
